Our Story & Your Destination
Where the Gulf Meets Home
Two waterfront retreats on the same quiet canal — built for people who love the water as much as we do.
The Story Behind the Havens
Rod and Reel Haven started with a simple idea: a place on the water where family and friends could slow down, cast a line, and watch the sun melt into the Gulf. We fell in love with Hernando Beach for its unhurried pace, its direct Gulf access, and the kind of neighbors who wave from their docks.
Haven 1 on Cedarbrook Lane came first — a cozy two-bedroom retreat that quickly became a favorite for couples and small families. Haven 2 on Minnow Creek Drive followed, offering a little more room for bigger groups without losing any of the waterfront magic.
We manage both properties personally. That means fast responses, honest descriptions, and a genuine interest in making your stay exceptional. You're talking to the owners — not an algorithm.

Wildlife & Sunsets
The Destination
Hernando Beach, Florida
A hidden gem on Florida's Nature Coast — where the Gulf is calm, the fishing is world-class, and the crowds haven't found it yet.
World-Class Fishing
Hernando Beach sits at the edge of some of Florida's best inshore and nearshore fishing. Redfish, snook, trout, and tarpon are regulars in the canals and flats. The Gulf opens up just minutes from the dock.
Direct Gulf Access
The canals connect directly to the Gulf of Mexico with no locks or bridges. Take the boat out at sunrise, explore the flats, or anchor up at a sandbar for the afternoon.
Boating & Water Sports
Kayaks are included with both properties. Bring your own boat or rent one locally — there are several marinas within a short drive. The calm canal water is perfect for paddleboarding too.
Nature Coast Wildlife
Manatees cruise the canals in warmer months. Dolphins are frequent visitors near the Gulf mouth. Ospreys, herons, and roseate spoonbills are part of the daily scenery.
Fishing the Local Waters
Whether you're a seasoned angler or picking up a rod for the first time, Hernando Beach delivers. Here's what to know before you wet a line.
The Canal System
Start right from the dock. The canals hold snook, redfish, and sheepshead year-round. Early morning and dusk are prime times.
Hernando Beach Flats
Wade or kayak the shallow grass flats just outside the canal mouth. Trout and redfish patrol these waters, especially on falling tides.
Nearshore Reefs
A short run offshore puts you over limestone ledges and artificial reefs holding grouper, snapper, and amberjack. Most charter captains run from Hernando Beach Marina.
Weeki Wachee River
A short drive north, the Weeki Wachee offers freshwater fishing for bass and bream in a stunning spring-fed setting — a great change of pace.
